A small studio for a shared reveal

Mystery Mural Studio is a free browser tool for adult teachers, parents and group organizers who want to turn a picture into a collaborative color-by-number activity.

One picture becomes a printable pack

The tool fits a source picture into a pixel grid, maps its colors to a simple shared palette and divides the result into square worksheets. The PDF includes a teacher color answer, an assembly map and one activity page for each piece.

It has no account system, paid image API, online classroom or student profile. Image processing and PDF generation run on your device. The current work is not saved across reloads.

What to expect

Output uses square cells, not smooth coloring-book outlines. The palette is a general on-screen reference, not a certified match to a pencil or marker brand. Different participants and printers may produce different results. Test a worksheet before organizing a large activity.

The project was built with AI assistance. We do not claim classroom trials, teacher endorsement or independent physical-printer certification. The printable scale markers are there so you can check your own setup.

Original demo artwork

The rocket, sunshine, rainbow and flower are simple original pixel designs created for this tool. You may print them for personal, classroom and group activities, and share photographs of your resulting group work. Uploaded source images remain your responsibility; use images you own or have permission to adapt.

Open-source components

PDF creation uses pdf-lib under its MIT license. No picture is sent to an AI service to create the mural.
